“In order to prevent the spread of the virus, in the threatened zone we seize live poultry from the population — chickens, geese and guinea fowl, and so on — and dispose of it”, - said Roza Kuzmenko, the head of the region’s veterinary and breeding agency. She added that this is a "routine sanitary measure" to protect livestock in large enterprises.
According to Kommersant, all employees of the enterprise were forcibly vaccinated. The same disease was found on the Japanese island of Hokkaido.
The Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko has introduced a quarantine for highly pathogenic bird flu. After the “slaughter of the last bird”, quarantine will be in effect for another 21 days.
Now local farmers are concerned about the issue of calculating the cost of poultry, which differs from the one to whom the products are sold - to an enterprise or an individual, as well as from the breed of poultry. It takes time to restore the population. In addition, all the feed that farmers have purchased for poultry is likely to be wasted.
