The Russian Ministry of Defense supported the proposal of the party "Fair Russia - For the Truth" on the introduction of basic military training in schools and colleges, noting the "relevance of the issue."

As Izvestia writes, officers with combat experience can be involved in the work. The study time must be at least 140 hours in the last two years of study.

The head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - the first deputy minister of defense of the country, Valery Gerasimov, responded to the proposal of party leader Sergei Mironov.

“Initial military training at the levels of secondary general and secondary vocational education, as mandatory for study, certainly deserves attention and is supported,” Gerasimov noted.

The department indicated that it is necessary to review the military training of teachers. If necessary, the states should be understaffed with those who did military service under a contract in officer positions: "in priority order, military personnel - participants in hostilities".

According to Mironov, psychological training should also be introduced in schools. In addition, the innovation will make it possible to employ tens of thousands of citizens.

The Ministry of Education has already proposed to include both military and medical training in the basics of life safety in the 10th and 11th grades.

Recall that the initial military training was introduced in 1918 for citizens 15-20 years old, and abolished at the end of the 1980s. Since 1947, it has been canceled for non-student youth, and since 1962 - for all high school students, The NVP was resumed in 1967.
