Vladimir Zelensky called for Russia to be forced into "real peace talks"

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky demanded that Russia be forced into "real peace negotiations" and said that Kiev had previously proposed "such negotiations".

This is how Zelensky commented on the climate summit in Egypt. According to him, "everyone who seriously considers the climate agenda should also seriously ...force Russia into real peace negotiations". He put forward a number of demands on Russia, including “the restoration of territorial integrity, respect for the UN Charter, compensation for all losses ... punishment of every war criminal and guarantees that this will not happen again.” He called such conditions "absolutely understandable".

It's worth reminding that in October, after the DPR and LPR were annexed to Russia, Zelensky enforced the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to ban negotiations with Moscow while Vladimir Putin is Russian President. Washington called on the Ukrainian side to publicly declare its readiness for negotiations. After that, Kyiv stated that it allowed negotiations with the Russian Federation, but after the Russian troops were withdrawn from the territory of Ukraine.

The Russian side has repeatedly expressed its readiness to negotiate. At the end of October, the country's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed this readiness. He also pointed out that over the past six months there have been several initiatives to request telephone conversations with the Russian leader, including initiatives from the United States and a number of foreign ministers.
