Democracy without borders. Two dead candidates elected to US House of Representatives

Voters in two states unanimously elected Democratic candidates who were already dead at the time of the vote.

In the elections to the lower house of the US Congress, two people won at once, who died before voting day. Both of them represented the Democratic Party and both won by wide margins in the states of Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

Former Pennsylvania Congressman Anthony DeLuca, who died Oct. 9 at age 86 of lymphoma, was re-elected with 85% of the vote, Fox News reports.

“We are proud that voters continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to democratic values by re-electing him posthumously. A special election will follow shortly,” the Pennsylvania House Democrats said in a statement.

Tennessee Representative Barbara Cooper, who died October 25 at age 93, also "won the race" in her state's constituency, Local Memphis writes.

By the way, in Pennsylvania, another (but still alive) Democratic candidate, John Fetterman, defeated his Republican rival, broadcaster Mehmet Oz. Fetterman suffered a stroke in May, and by his own admission, he does not remember some words and does not compose sentences well.

It seems that against the background of his party members, Joe Biden does not look so bad... - they joke on social networks.
