“There is a 50% to 60% chance that temperatures will be well above historical norms across much of the UK and Central and Southern Europe. Warmer temperatures will help prevent the depletion of scarce natural gas reserves”, - Bloomberg notes, citing the Copernicus report.
Eurasia Group noted that most weather patterns point to a mild start to winter in Europe, which should ensure that gas reserves will be sufficient even with the arrival of cold weather in early 2023.
Copernicus scientists also expect a decrease in precipitation this winter in France and Germany. In particular, with a probability of 40–50%, below average precipitation is expected over the next three months.
The service also predicts a warm winter this year in the central and southern United States, Japan, Russia and much of China.
“The Copernican model combines data from scientists from the UK, France, Germany, Italy and the US. The EU program uses billions of measurements from satellites, ships, aircraft and weather stations around the world for its monthly and seasonal forecasts", - the media notes.
