In Russia, an ultra-light armored helmet made of composite materials has been developed, the weight of which is 700 g. This is 300 g less than the weight of the 6B47 helmet (created as part of the Ratnik project), which is supplied for serial equipment in the RF Armed Forces.

This was announced by Oleg Faustov, Deputy General Director of the enterprise-developer "Armokom".

“We are moving forward and want to make our helmets even lighter. So, we have developed a promising sample weighing only 700 grams, however, it is still too early to talk about the mass production of such helmets for mass production”, - said Faustov (quoted by RIA Novosti).

He added that the Russian armored helmet 6B47 is the lightest among the army armored helmets in service with the leading military powers. The interlocutor of the agency noted that the American counterpart weighs 200 g more, and the German and French samples - "even more".

Faustov also spoke about the Legionnaire project, which is developing a "suit" made of composite armor that completely covers the body of a fighter, as was the case with medieval knights' armor. The implementation of the project involves the creation of an "iron man" suit, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“This work is planned to be carried out within the framework of the Legionnaire research project. It will consider the possibility of manufacturing such an armored "suit", but again, an exoskeleton will be required to support it, ”he answered the relevant questions of journalists, adding that research work on the project will be completed in an accelerated mode by the end of 2023, and the Legionnaire set will replace the modern Ratnik.
