According to Reuters, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said this on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Indonesia. Today, November 14, these restrictive measures will be announced. They will affect 14 citizens and 28 legal entities, including financial intermediaries. Yellen did not say more details about those who will be included in the new sanctions list.
The minister added that the new measures are part of US efforts to undermine Russia's military power and halt the supply of military equipment through sanctions and export controls. After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the United States tightened previously imposed sanctions in order to deprive the Russian defense industry, aircraft manufacturing and shipbuilding of important technological elements.
The day before, Yellen noted that if a peace agreement with Ukraine is reached, sanctions against Russia will be adjusted, but a number of restrictions may remain in force. She believes that maintaining sanctions against Moscow would raise the prospect of Washington's long-term efforts to put pressure on the Russian economy.
