Over the past 12 years, the world's population has increased by another billion people and has reached eight billion. According to UN forecasts, by 2030 the world's population will increase by another half a billion, and by 2080 it will reach 10.4 billion people.

Researchers note that over the past 200 years, the number of people on Earth has increased eight times. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the number of people on the planet was 1.6 billion. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the number of people had already increased to six billion.

The rapid increase in the number of people on the planet is explained by the decrease in infant mortality, the development of medicine, the improvement of living conditions, the availability of food and water.

Despite the growth in the population as a whole, its growth rate has been slowing down in recent years. In 60 countries of the world over the next 30 years, the population is expected to decline by 1% or more. This is due to a decrease in the birth rate, and in some cases - with the migration of people.

Population growth in the coming years is projected to be due to an increase in the inhabitants of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Tanzania.

Life expectancy over the past 30 years has increased by almost 9 years - up to 72.8 years. By 2050, the average life expectancy of people is expected to increase to 77.2 years.
