The development and creation of the Aurora mobile operating system, owned by Rostelecom, and the creation of a national mobile ecosystem will amount to about 480 billion rubles - the amount is indicated in the project passport.

Kommersant reports that the document has been sent by the company to the Operating Systems Development Competence Center, which is supervised by the Ministry of Digital Development.

Financing of the project is planned to be received from the funds of the federal project "Digital Public Administration", as well as the national program "Digital Economy". With this money, it is supposed to create infrastructure, purchase devices, install OS and programs. After the project is completed, in the first year, sales revenue is expected at the level of 28 million rubles.

The project passport has already been approved by the government. According to the source of the publication, this is an interim solution. The passport is submitted to the Ministry of Digital Development, then sent to the expert group, after which it is submitted for consideration by the grant committee - the Russian Foundation for the Development of Information Technologies. Its decision is sent to the government commission on digital development. Head of Development Competence Center for "Operating Systems"

The project has now received approval from the working group. However, this "does not yet mean that the project will definitely receive funding."

In October 2021, Russian media reported that “our own smartphone” had reappeared in our country. Rostec introduced a gadget called AYYA T1, which has a high degree of privacy and security. The device is equipped with the Google Android 11 operating system, it is also reported that there is a version with the Russian Aurora operating system. Then it turned out that Aurora turned out to be based on the Sailfish OS platform developed by the Finnish company Jolla Ltd., founded by people from Nokia.

It should be noted that the amount indicated in the passport of the Aurora project is ten times the size of the "coffin" payments of the Ministry of Defense to the families of the mobilized - 48 billion rubles.
