The death of the President of the FFKKR was confirmed by the press attaché of the Federation, Olga Yermolina, who also added that this would not be the reason for the cancellation of the competitions held in Samara.
“Alexander Georgievich died. Competitions in Samara as part of the 5th stage of the Russian Grand Prix are not canceled, they are already underway”, - Yermolina explained .
Alexander Gorshkov, together with Lyudmila Pakhomova, became the champions of the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck, winning in ice dancing. In the history of the USSR, this victory was the first gold medal in the discipline. The duet has won the World Championship and the European Championship six times, which is a record in the history of ice dancing.
