The Norwegian division of Volkswagen has unveiled a custom-made hybrid of an office chair and an electric car, reports It's Money. An unusual piece of furniture is equipped with an electric drive and many features that can be found in cars that run on batteries.

The chair is capable of driving 12 km, its maximum speed is 20 km/h, it has a rear view camera, parking sensors, headlights and a touch screen on the armrest. The furniture will not go on sale: the witty employees of Volkswagen created it to show how the technologies used in electric vehicles can be integrated into other objects. According to them, a driving range of 12 km is enough for office workers “to be able to get to the coffee machine and return to the meeting on the same day,” and a top speed of 20 km/h will help them to be first in line at the buffet.

The chair is equipped with a tiny battery that can be removed for charging. The main control panel is located on the right armrest, while the throttle and brake can be operated by foot. The control panel has a full set of switches for setting various functions, which can control the LED headlights integrated in the front of the armrests, brake lights, music speakers, etc. The seat is equipped with parking sensors so that you can maneuver in difficult places, the seat is heated and embossed with the VW logo. For maximum stability, there are five wheels, modeled on the wheels of a full-size car. Behind the chair is equipped with a "trunk" and the ability to tow a trailer full of documents, mail and tea mugs.

The chair will not be put into production, but it can be taken for a test drive in Volkswagen showrooms in Norway.
