All current spaceports are on land, but Florida-based Space Perspective is going to conduct space launches from the sea, SpaceNews reports. To do this, Space Perspective will buy transport ships and turn them into floating spaceports. The first such vessel was purchased from the Los Angeles company Edison Chouest Offshore and named "MS Voyager".
Marine spaceports create ideal conditions for launching, according to Space Perspective. Unlike traditional fixed ground-based spaceports, ships can move to areas with good weather, and this will allow tourists to be launched all year round, at sunrise and sunset. Moreover, the launches will be able to take place in different parts of the world, so that tourists can see different parts of the Earth on their way to space and back.
Those wishing to visit space Space Perspective will send on the Space Neptune passenger capsule, which will be delivered into orbit by an inflatable ball the size of a football stadium. The company promises safe and eco-friendly travel and "crazy" views of the Earth from the stratosphere. The luxurious capsule, equipped with a bathroom, bar and Wi-Fi, is designed to provide eight passengers with panoramic views of our planet from space. The duration of the flight is six hours, the cost of the flight is $125,000. All tickets for the first launches scheduled for 2024 are already sold out, but there are still places for 2025.
