Pentagon fails audit by failing to report on 61% of assets

The US Department of Defense failed to account for 61% of its assets, thus failing its fifth audit in history, Pentagon Comptroller Mike McChord said.
According to The Hill , 1,600 auditors checked the agency's assets. They found that the ministry could not produce a report on about 61% of its own assets. This result was unexpected for the controllers.
- I would not say that we failed. The process is important to us and it helps us get better,” McChord told reporters.
The Pentagon was first audited at the end of 2017.
Today, the Republican Party in the House of Representatives of the United States Congress presented a bill on the audit of funds sent to Kyiv. Three days earlier, the administration of US President Joe Biden requested from Congress additional funds for Ukraine for $37.7 billion.
