Pentagon spokesman General Pat Ryden said that Turkey's strikes in Syria and Iraq have become a threat to the safety of American personnel who work in the region. He demanded an urgent de-escalation of the conflict.

“Recent airstrikes in Syria have directly threatened the safety of US personnel who are working there with local partners to defeat IS*,” Ryder said in a statement.

He added that "uncoordinated military action threatens the sovereignty of Iraq." Only “immediate de-escalation” can ensure the “safety of personnel on the ground”. At the same time, the military acknowledged Ankara's "legitimate concerns" regarding security. He promised to discuss with the Turkish side, as well as "local partners", the observance of the ceasefire agreements.

Recall that in recent days, the Turkish air force continues to strike at the positions of the Kurdish forces of the SDF in Syria and Iraq. Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised to eradicate terrorism, which poses a threat to the country's security. In particular, the president promised to take revenge on the Kurdistan Workers' Party, whose militants carried out a terrorist attack in the center of Istanbul last week. Ankara launched the "Claw Sword" retaliation operation.

Earlier this week, the American side already called on Turkey to show restraint in its military operation in the region.
