Figure of the day: Russians donated 360 billion rubles to charity in a year

According to Forbes, citing the calculations of researchers from Sber Private Banking, Frank RG and Philin Philgood, large donors provide no more than 20-40% of the income of Russian NGOs.

Large philanthropists with a capital of $1 million or more account for 37% of all amounts transferred by individuals, while most donors prefer not to advertise their actions.

At the same time, of all the money allocated for charitable purposes, private donations account for only 21%.

The vast majority of transfers (75%) are corporate donations.

Large donations, as a rule, go to the needs of sick children and socially vulnerable groups of the population. To help them donate 55 and 34%, respectively. Experts believe that by the end of 2022, the number of donations will be reduced to 40% compared to last year.

The reason for what is happening experts call the forced redistribution of resources within corporations.

According to NGO representatives, in 2021, Russian residents involved in charity work began to donate less money to organizations that support the media, victims of violence, prisoners, LGBT people and people with HIV.

According to public figures, Russians make the most transfers to organizations that help children with disabilities, animals, the poor, the elderly and orphans. In August last year, donors sent an average of 1,500 rubles to charity, this is the maximum figure. On average, at the end of the year, the donation amounted to 800 rubles. Residents of the country are increasingly transferring funds online.
