War and a bit of science: the Ministry of Culture approved the main themes for Russian cinema

According to the decision of cultural officials, the shooting of films, mainly dedicated to the military exploits of the Russian people and the state, will henceforth receive state support.

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation approved the themes for Russian cinema, which will receive state support, according to the Vremya goszapupok channel. A total of 17 areas have been identified:

- History lessons, memory lessons,

- Opposition to attempts to falsify history;

- Peacekeeping mission of Russia,

- Historical victories of Russia,

- 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War,

- The liberation mission of the Soviet soldier,

- Opposition to modern manifestations of the ideology of Nazism and fascism,

- Popularization of the heroism and selflessness of Russian soldiers during a special military operation,

- Science of Russia: innovations, technologies, priorities.

It is curious at the same time that in October 2022, the head of the Department of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Davidenko, said that 43 cinemas had closed in Russia since the beginning of 2022, and another 103 had suspended work.

According to him, after the departure of foreign film distributors from Russia, the revenue of institutions from the beginning of 2022 to October 18 fell by 44% compared to the same period last year. In monetary terms, cinemas lost 18.8 billion rubles. At the same time, the box office of Russian cinema fell by 7.3%. So there is no hope that the approved themes will help revive the Russian film distribution.

Against this background, one more film news of the last days is amusingly readable. The Tver authorities canceled the shooting of a purely patriotic film about a special operation that scared the residents of Tver and the region so much that they almost decided that the SVO had gotten to them. In recent days, video and photo evidence of these shootings have been circulating on social networks: columns of military equipment with Ukrainian flags flying.

The decision of the Tver mayor's office was also supported by the governor of Tver Rudenya, noting that this is a recognizable region (whatever that means), on whose land it is unsuitable to drive tanks with the symbols of a foreign state. In addition, he advised officials to continue to read scripts more carefully before giving permission for filming.

It will be extremely interesting to know how this decision will be perceived in the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
