Alexander Inozemtsev, Deputy Head of the United Engine Corporation JSC, which is part of Rostec, and Managing Director of UEC-Aviadvigatel, said that the development period for the PD-35 civil aviation engine, which was supposed to be presented until 2028, was postponed for a couple of years.

He explained such changes by the redistribution of funds to increase the volume of PD-14, PD-8 and PS-90A. Inozemtsev called the measure forced, but stressed that "nothing stops".

The PD-35 engine is being developed by Perm JSC UEC-Aviadvigatel. It is intended for the Russian-Chinese airliner CR929. Now work on the creation of the engine is at the stage of research and development. The cost of developing the PD-35 was estimated at $3 billion.

The fact that Russia and China will work together on the creation of CR929 became known back in 2018. CR929 is a project of a wide-body long-haul airliner, which will have three basic versions - 500, 600 and 700. They will differ in the number of seats - 230, 280 and 320 landing units.
