Deprived of its license to broadcast in Latvia, “Rain”* will continue to work on YouTube

As Natalya Sindeyeva**, the general director of the TV channel, told RBC, Dozhd* will continue to work on YouTube, but plans to obtain a new license in another country.

Earlier today it became known that the National Electronic Media Council of Latvia, in the interests of “state security and public order”, decided to revoke the broadcasting license of the TV channel.

Before that, the channel's journalist Aleksey Korostelev stated that the employees of this media outlet are helping the Russian military in the zone of the special operation in Ukraine. The journalist was immediately fired, followed by a series of dismissals of other employees.

The head of the Latvian Ministry of Defense, Artis Pabriks, said that a process had begun to revoke the residence permit for employees of the Dozhd TV channel. Pabriks pointed out that Dozhd* (Rain*) should leave for Russia, and the residence permit of its employees should be cancelled.
