The Ministry of Finance this year will receive up to 5.74 billion rubles for the construction and equipment of Russian-language schools in Tajikistan - the order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The document specifies that we are talking about educational institutions in Dushanbe, Kulyab, Khujand, Bokhtar and Tursunzade. The money will be transferred as a donation from Russia to the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development.

In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon opened five Russian-language schools in Tajikistan. Schools are located in different regions of the country and are named after the heroes and cultural figures of Russia: Yuri Gagarin, Mikhail Lomonosov, Anton Chekhov, Dmitry Mendeleyev, Konstantin Ushinsky.

Putin announced the opening of the cultural center of Tajikistan in Moscow. Last year, the Russian authorities allocated $150 million for the construction of Russian-language schools in Tajikistan.

Rahmon declared the next year, 2023, the Year of the Russian Language in the Republic.
