Football is more interesting: political talk shows have disappeared from the list of rating programs

Russian TV viewers have practically given up watching propaganda talk shows, switching to entertainment content. The list of the hundred most popular programs last week included only “60 minutes” of the Russia-1 TV channel, according to Mediascope data cited by experts from the We Can Explain channel.

Previously, these programs were popular with viewers. For example, at the end of October, five propaganda talk shows were included in the top 100 most rated programs, and in July “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” ranked seventh on this list. Now the situation is as follows: the talk show of Olga Skabeeva and Evgeny Popov on December 1 took only 62nd place in the widest age audience - 18-54, her rating was 1.5%. And the programs "Meeting Place", "Evening with Vladimir Solovyov" and "Time Will Show" were not in the top hundred at all.

But Russian viewers have become interested in entertaining and educational content. Including football: last week the France-Poland match at the Mundial in Qatar became the most popular program. Moreover, three more matches of the World Cup entered the top ten along with the New Psychic Battle. There were also news releases from different TV channels.

Russians do not want radio propaganda either: only 8.8% of them listen to the most popular news station, Vesti FM (7th place in the all-Russian rating), while Europe Plus, with a rating of 13.4%, took first place.

Journalist Pavel Pryanikov is sure that Russians are “tired of propaganda chatter on TV”:

“The topic of Ukraine was already leaving by 2021, then, like a defibrillator, they cheered it up for the time of the SVO, but the electric charge did not last long. People want normalization, ordinary life. The attitudes of the authorities and ordinary people diverge further and further..."

And journalist Kirill Shulika was happy for football in this regard:

“Did I tell you that football is about peace, kindness and cats? Did he say that Russia is a football country?

So... The most popular program last week was the broadcast of the football match between France and Poland. Three more football broadcasts made it into the top ten.

And at the same time, almost all propaganda programs, including Solovyov and others, flew out of the top 100 at the same time. In 62nd place, only Skabeeva and Popov from December 1. A game France-Poland on the first.
