Composer Angelo Badalamenti dies

Composer Angelo Badalamenti has died at the age of 86. His niece, Frances, announced his death.

She told the Hollywood Reporter that the composer died at his home in Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA, due to "natural causes".

Badalamenti's music is featured in 70 films and TV shows, but he is best known for his soundtracks to David Lynch's Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, and Lost Highway. He recorded the soundtrack for the film "The Beach" by Danny Boyle and "Stalingrad" by Fyodor Bondarchuk.

In 1990, Badalamenti was nominated for a Grammy for his score for Twin Peaks, and in 1993 he won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Original Score for Twin Peaks: Through the Fire. In 2005, he was nominated for the World Soundtrack Award in the nomination "Soundtrack Composer of the Year", and in 2011 Badalamenti received the Henry Mancini Award.

He worked at various times with Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Nina Simone, Liz Minnelli and others.
