Analysts note a total reduction in New Year's holiday spending in the country.

About 70% of Russians cut spending in the lll quarter of this year. People are saving on clothes, eating out less often and changing household items, they are increasingly giving up vacations and buying new electronics, according to the analytical portal NielsenIQ. Analysts, sellers and restaurateurs are sure that the New Year holidays will not rock the situation, the desire to save money will not go anywhere, and this year the Russians will celebrate the New Year on a very budgetary basis.

Pre-holiday sales traditionally work as an indicator - despite the increase in the number of orders in online stores, the single average check for all participants in November promotions in 2022 decreased by 50% compared to last year's figures. Accordingly, it is not necessary to expect fabulous spending on New Year's gifts from consumers. This is confirmed by the results of a survey from Ipsos, according to which a quarter of Russians plan to buy fewer gifts this year than in the previous one. In addition, presents will become cheaper - the number of those who are ready to spend more than 5 thousand rubles on a purchase has decreased from 16% to 14%.

The situation in the restaurant business looks no less sad. Despite the December increase in the flow of catering visitors, the backlog from last year's attendance figures today is from 15% to 25%, analysts of the Kremlevsky mumkoved channel write. Someone stopped going to restaurants and bars altogether, while someone began to save money. For example, a new trend has appeared - to hold corporate parties more modestly. Instead of events for 15-20 people, companies today often prefer to gather in a "narrow circle", reducing the number of guests to 3-5 people. According to the forecasts of restaurateurs, this year's revenue may be lower by about 10%.
