Vladimir Putin instructed the special services to quickly identify traitors and saboteurs

Vladimir Putin stressed in his address to counterintelligence officials that it is necessary to severely suppress the actions of foreign intelligence services, to promptly identify traitors, saboteurs and spies. He urged to strengthen the work of border guards.

- It is impossible to weaken attention on such an important area as the fight against extremism. Militant nationalism, calls for violence, provocations aimed at inciting ethnic hatred are a direct threat to the internal unity of our society. Such attempts should be followed by an immediate reaction of the special services, the head of state noted.

Putin drew attention to the contribution of veterans of the special services to strengthening the security of Russia, expressed gratitude to the employees of the FSB, SVR, FSO, and the Main Directorate of Special Programs.

He also called for more decisive action in the field of protecting information resources, combating economic crimes and combating corruption. He also separately dwelled on the fact that the current situation in the territories annexed to Russia is “extremely difficult”, but the duty of security officials is “to do everything necessary to ensure the maximum security” of the inhabitants of these territories, their rights and freedoms.

The day before, the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation recommended that a draft law be adopted in the second reading, according to which it provides for the introduction of responsibility for preparing sabotage, training in their implementation and organizing a sabotage community. Currently, life imprisonment is provided for those who committed sabotage, which led to the death of a person.
