Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin does not expect positive changes in Kiev's position following Zelensky's visit to the United States.

This was stated by the Kremlin representative at a briefing. Answering journalists' questions about whether the Ukrainian leadership would be in the mood for negotiations with Moscow, Peskov said: "I don't think so".

“Arms supplies continue. The range of supplied weapons is expanding. All this, of course, leads to an aggravation of the conflict and, in fact, does not bode well for Ukraine”, - RBC quoted Peskov as saying.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky flew to Washington to meet with US President Joe Biden for the first time since the start of the Russian special operation. Zelensky will visit the White House and the Capitol.

The purpose of the visit is to increase the defense capability of Kyiv. The heads of state at the meeting on December 21 intend to discuss new types of economic, humanitarian and military assistance.

The day before, the presidents of the two countries spoke by phone. Volodymyr Zelensky told Joe Biden about the damage to 50% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure. He called for the formation of an effective air defense system in Ukraine in order to protect the country's civilian population and its critical infrastructure.

Zelensky is expected to hold a press conference following the meeting. Its start is scheduled for 16:30 on December 21 local time (0:30 Moscow time on December 22).
