The rector of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel (pictured), appealed to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky with a request to leave the Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. On December 31, the anenda period will end.

- Already on January 1, we have no right to cross the threshold of the Refectory and Assumption churches. No one has informed us in writing at least a month in advance, we have long-term lease agreements in our hands," Metropolitan Pavel said. On December 26, the head of the national reserve "Kiev-Pechersk Lavra" informed him that by the end of the year the lease of the Assumption and Refectory churches, which are located on the territory of the Lavra, will be completed.

The metropolitan invited the Ukrainian president to visit the lavra to "see with my own eyes how many believers come to worship or on a festive day."

- We ask and implore you (Zelensky) to instruct the party not to sign these incompetent documents against the church. We do not interfere in politics and economics, we only ask you to leave us a church for us," said the rector of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.

In early December, the representative of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Evstratiy Zorya, announced that the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra had been re-registered to the autocephalous OCU, which is supported by the Kiev regime. Zelensky said that at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of the republic it was decided to ban the activities of religious organizations associated with the Russian Federation.

On November 22, representatives of the SBU searched the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. I reacted extremely negatively to this Kremlin. The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov called the actions of the Ukrainian security forces "military actions against Russian Orthodoxy."
