Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law according to which, from January 1 next year, the average size of pensions of non-working pensioners will be increased to 21,054 rubles. Currently, the average pension is 18,521 rubles.

The document introduces technical amendments to the legislation in connection with the creation of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund. Previously, its functions were performed by the Pension Fund of Russia and the Social Insurance Fund. Since 2023, the Pension and Social Insurance Fund, headed by Sergey Chirkov, who previously worked in the FIU, will begin to operate. The Russian government has allocated one and a half trillion rubles to the Pension Fund for the payment of pensions in 2022 and 2023, it was reported on December 28.

The amount includes pension allowances for non-working pensioners whose income is below the subsistence minimum.
