The Russian Foreign Ministry declared the Lithuanian diplomat persona non grata after the expulsion of an employee of the Russian Embassy in Vilnius from the republic.

As Kommersant reports with reference to the data of the Russian diplomatic department, in response to the expulsion of an employee of the Russian embassy, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Charge d'affaires of Lithuania to Russia's Jurgit Cibulskiene. The agency protested to her in connection with the incident in Vilnius.

"The Russian Foreign Ministry also declared one Lithuanian diplomat persona non grata in response to Lithuania's actions," the statement said.

An employee of the Lithuanian embassy will have to leave the Russian Federation within five days. The name of the expelled diplomat is not called.

Earlier it was reported that Lithuania filed claims against the activities of one of the Russian diplomats in the country and demanded his departure, since the work of the representative of the Russian embassy in Vilnius was considered "incompatible with diplomatic status."

At the end of October, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry declared persona non grata one of the employees of the Russian embassy. He has to leave the country. The decision to expel the Russian diplomat followed an incident with a Russian missile that was shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems. The wreckage of this missile hit the territory of Moldova.
