Rogozin was wounded in the back on December 21 during the shelling of a hotel in Donetsk. On December 26, he was operated on in a hospital in the Moscow region, the fragment was removed.

As he himself informed, the strikes were carried out with "high-precision ammunition of a supposedly 155-mm Caesar self-propelled artillery installation." Then it became known that Rogozin was wounded in the restaurant "Shesh-Besh" during the celebration of his birthday. The shelling of the hotel began at about 20 hours on December 21, about ten minutes after the head of the government of the Donetsk People's Republic, Vitaly Khotsenko, appeared at Rogozin's party.

On December 22, it became known that two people were killed during the shelling, during which Rogozin was wounded. - The guys who were nearby — two — were killed, - confirmed the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin.
