From January 1, 2023, Rosstat will revise the list of goods and services included in the consumer basket for calculating inflation in the country: eight new items will be added to the list, and some parameters will be excluded.

According to Kommersant, after adjusting the list of goods and services needed to track monthly inflation, the total list will increase to 566 items.

"The updated basket will include tourist trips to the Black Sea coast and Crimea, river cruises in Russia, sitting cars on long-distance trains, office paper, suitcases", - the message says.

The list will also include some products for children, including nipples, creams and baby car seats.

Rosstat officials moved mechanical, quartz and electronic alarm clocks and paper wallpaper to the category of unnecessary ones, and the seasoning "black pepper with peas" was replaced with dry spices.

When determining the level of inflation in the field of foreign tourism, Rosstat will exclude from the list for mandatory monthly comparison excessively expensive and little popular among the mass consumer tours to Morocco, Cyprus, Maldives and Sri Lanka, Israel, Jordan, India and Tunisia. Only tours to Egypt, Turkey, the UAE, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand will be considered reference.

Rosstat indicated that the prices of goods and services in the country have risen by 12.01% over the year, and the real salary of Russians has decreased by 1.3%. Thus, the standard of living of the majority of Russian citizens has fallen significantly over the past year.
