Saboteurs will be punished with a life sentence

Now three new articles have been added to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. These are "Promotion of sabotage activities", "Training in order to carry out sabotage activities" and "Organization of a sabotage community and participation in it". The first implies a penalty of 8 to 15 years in prison with a fine of 300 to 700 thousand rubles. Using official position — from 10 to 20 years in a penal colony with a fine of 500 thousand to 1 million rubles. The maximum penalty under the article is life imprisonment.

According to the second article, the guilty person faces imprisonment from 15 to 20 years with restriction of freedom up to two years or life imprisonment. A person may be released from criminal liability if he reports his training to the authorities.

The third provides for 15 to 20 years of imprisonment with a fine of up to 1 million rubles (leadership, propaganda and support of sabotage). Participation in such a community will threaten a colony from 5 to 10 years with a fine of up to half a million rubles.

In addition, the accounts of persons involved in the financing of sabotage will be blocked. Currently, such a measure is provided for in relation to terrorists and extremists.
