Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu (pictured) said that the authorities of the republic are going to work out a mechanism for transferring frozen Russian assets worth 17 billion euros to Ukraine. The official did not name specific dates.

In an interview with Postimees, Reinsalu said that the process of transferring Russian assets to Ukraine is currently not progressing, despite the fact that the European Union has instructed the European Commission to develop an appropriate legal scheme. - We discussed this in the government and decided that in parallel we will start creating a legal structure that will allow the use of this money, - said the minister, adding that this step of Estonia will become a precedent in international law.

Earlier, EC Head Ursula von der Leyen promised that the EU would "find legal ways" to confiscate Russian assets to help finance the reconstruction of Ukraine.

For this purpose, a special structure can be created that will manage Russian assets for investments in Kiev. By the way, Germany has not taken an official position on this issue.
