The International Committee of the Red Cross provided information to about four thousand Russians and Ukrainians who submitted a request to search for loved ones in Ukraine. In total, about 50 thousand such requests were received after the start of the special operation - on February 24, 2022.

"In the case of this particular international conflict, we have created a bureau of our central search agency. This is happening for the first time since the Second World War", - RIA Novosti quotes the words of the official representative of the ICRC in Kiev, Ashil Depre. This bureau was organized in March last year.

It has offices in Moscow and Kiev. The call center is operated from Geneva. The bureau is called by those who cannot find their relatives. The center receives an average of 800 calls per day. At the end of last year, the ICRC announced more than five thousand people who went missing in Ukraine after the start of the SVO.

The head of the Russian section of the organization, Anastasia Kushleiko, clarified that at that time the Red Cross received about 40 thousand appeals, every eighth is related to the search for people. Recall that the organization has been operating for more than one and a half hundred years.

It collects data on the wounded, prisoners, sick and refugees, helping families to reunite and receive the necessary support in the event of the death of loved ones.
