The Virgin Orbit company of American billionaire Richard Branson (pictured) experienced a 30 percent collapse in the value of shares after a LauncherOne rocket called Cosmic Girl ("Space Girl") failed to deliver nine mini-satellites into orbit.

At the auction on January 9, the quotes of the aerospace company Virgin Orbit collapsed by 30.34%, to $ 1.47, RBC reports with reference to the auction data.

The failed launch was made for the first time from the territory of the UK. Virgin Orgit has already launched five rockets earlier, four of them have reached the target. The loss of "Space Girl" is already Branson's second failure.

After the Cosmic Girl rocket, into which nine expensive satellites were loaded, failed to enter orbit, investors began to get rid of Branson's securities en masse.

The devices carried by the rocket belonged to commercial companies and government agencies, among the customers were the British Ministry of Defense and the National Directorate of Military Space Intelligence of the United States (NRO).

Branson created Virgin Orbit in 2017. His space company competes with billionaires Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. It launches commercial and government satellites into near-Earth orbit, including in the interests of NASA.

Earlier it was reported that in 2021, Branson's company Virgin Galactic in 2021 sent tourists into space, among whom was Branson himself. Since that time, Virgin Galactic has sold about 100 tickets to space for half a million dollars each.
