A member of the Defense Committee, Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev, made a proposal to send Russians over the age of 30 to military training camps to obtain a military accounting specialty. He noted that this is necessary so that such people do not become "cannon fodder". He announced the proposal after Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced plans to increase the age of conscription by three years. Thus, conscripts between the ages of 21 and 30 will fall under the draft.
"These are the dreams of Viktor Ivanovich Sobolev, which are not connected with reality in any way," Andrei Kartapolov commented on the initiative of the deputy to RBC.
He noted that the initiative of the Ministry of Defense to raise the draft age is connected with the fact that "yesterday's schoolchildren" do not go to the army if they do not go to university. According to him, several years should pass after graduation, the young man should become independent, mature, get some kind of profession, and only after that go into the army. In this case, the conscript will be more prepared for service.
It's worth reminding that the draft age in the country can be changed from this year.
