The Russian Embassy in Nepal confirmed that the victims of the plane crash with ATR 72 flying to Kathmandu, including four citizens of the Russian Federation. 

"We regret to inform you that four Russian citizens who were on board flight YT 691 on the Kathmandu-Pokhara route on January 15 tragically died as a result of the plane crash.

We express our deepest condolences to the relatives and families of the victims", - the diplomatic mission said in a statement. 

According to the list published by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Russians Elena Banduro, Victoria Altunina, Yuri Lygin and Viktor Lygin were on board.

 The list also includes 53 Nepalese, five citizens of India, two citizens of South Korea, one citizen of Argentina, Australia, France and Ireland. A total of 74 people were on board, including four crew members.

On the eve of the Russian Ambassador to Nepal Alexey Novikov said that all Russians were killed in the crash. Gurudatta Dhakal, assistant head of the Kaski district administration, in an interview with the AFP news agency, stated about the survivors of the plane crash.

Currently, the investigation of the circumstances of the disaster is continuing. A special commission has been set up to investigate the incident. According to one version, the crash occurred as a result of a technical malfunction.
