The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the intentions of the EU countries to adopt a new, tenth package of sanctions against Russia. There will be no new restrictions in it, but this package is intended to limit the possibility of avoiding previously imposed restrictions.

"The tenth package of sanctions will mainly focus on closing loopholes, ending these circumventions", - said Ursula von der Leyen, quoted by CNN. She added that avoiding sanctions "will have huge consequences for those who do it".

Ursula von der Leyen also called on Western allies to strengthen military assistance to Ukraine.

The head of the European Commission stressed that the country needs to send all military equipment that the Ukrainian military can handle, including advanced systems. As the newspaper notes, Germany is now under pressure to send German Leopard tanks to Kiev.

In particular, the UK called on Berlin not only to send its own tanks to Ukraine, but also to allow other countries to do so.Earlier, the Polish authorities announced their readiness to transfer 14 such tanks.

The country is calling for the creation of an international coalition and supply Ukraine with at least 100 such tanks. To supply German-made tanks to other countries, you need to get permission from Germany. So far, no country has requested permission for these supplies, the German authorities said earlier. The readiness to transfer German tanks to Kiev was previously announced in Finland.
