Vladimir Putin has submitted to the State Duma a draft on the termination of the Council of Europe treaties

On January 17, the draft law "On Termination of international Treaties of the Council of Europe with respect to the Russian Federation" was registered in the Duma database. The document was submitted by Russian President Vladimir Putin. In March 2022, Russia left the Council of Europe after 26 years of participation.

Before that, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe restricted the rights of the Russian Federation in the organization and PACE. PACE notified the Russian side of the suspension of membership in the assembly, and then voted to exclude Moscow from the Council of Europe.
