Eight residents of the Kaliningrad region fled to Podolsk.

According to Kommersant, military investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on desertion with weapons during the armed conflict against eight servicemen from the Kaliningrad region. In 2022, they left the camp in the Luhansk People's Republic with their regular weapons, including four machine guns, and reached Podolsk near Moscow by taxi and hitchhiking. The alleged organizer of the escape was arrested, other servicemen were isolated in the unit. They themselves explain the escape by the difficult conditions of service.

By the decision of the 235th Garrison Court of Moscow, the investigation's request for the arrest of junior Sergeant Yevgeny Kravchenko was granted. He will be in jail at least until February 27, 2023. Besides him, the defendants were Corporal Dmitry Medvedev, sailor Alexander Babenko, as well as privates Nikolai Kolmachev, Alexander Eliseev, Igor Medvedev, Alexander Bogachenok and Denis Balakhin.
