According to the head of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly, the department summoned Russian Ambassador Oleg Stepanov (pictured) because of the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Washington's steps to create a coalition against Moscow are comparable to the actions of Adolf Hitler and are aimed at the final solution of the "Russian question". According to the Canadian minister, Stepanov was also condemned for some "anti-Semitic" comments by Lavrov and the actions of the Russian army during a special operation in Ukraine, TASS writes. However, the ambassador himself denied the words of the Canadian Foreign Minister.

He said that he was not made a demarche in connection with the words of Sergey Lavrov. The Canadian side expressed a demarche regarding the tragedy in Dnepropetrovsk (Dnipro). It was just about that. Stepanov stressed that he had brought to the Canadian Foreign Ministry the position of official Moscow on the incident. Russia has the deepest differences with Canada on the topic of the Ukrainian conflict. Recall that Sergey Lavrov, speaking at a press conference on the results of Russian diplomacy in 2022, also said that relations between Russia and the West will never be the same.

Russia has not interrupted the strategic dialogue with the United States, but it does not intend to impose it either. Washington broke off contacts, the Russian side "is not going to run after them and say "let's be friends again"."
