The Cheremushkinsky court of Moscow sentenced 31-year-old Oleg Krivyakov to 2.5 years in a penal colony. He was found guilty of hooliganism and animal cruelty.

As the investigation found, the accused walked the streets and shot cats with an air pistol. The accused was involved in a dozen animal murders, RIA Novosti writes. As the newspaper notes, the court did not name the exact number of animals killed by the accused, but noted that two cats managed to survive after meeting him. They were recognized as material evidence in this case. Now the animals are with the witnesses.

The accused himself explained that he was doing a "good deed" for the capital. He believes that street cats are "a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses", the Telegram channel Mash reports.
