Residents of the Rostov region massively order the construction of personal bomb shelters: the demand for them has increased more than six times since the beginning of the year.

According to RostovGazeta with reference to data from Leonid Sinelnikov, a specialist in the construction of bunkers in Rostov-on-Don, in January of this year, as many customers have already applied to contractors as previously came for a whole year.

"In January alone, 22 clients have already applied. Usually in winter there were at most two or three objects in the work," the publication quotes the words of the builder.

According to him, most of the ordered objects are small-capacity family bunkers suitable for living from one to six people.

At the same time, builders, as a rule, erect no more than four objects. Those customers who did not have time to get in the first place agreed to wait until spring.

Due to difficult weather conditions, accompanied by periodic freezing of the soil, it is not very convenient to carry out construction work in winter, so the bulk of the work on the construction of bunkers falls in spring and summer.

Some customers have purchased plots specifically for the construction of bunkers. Others decided to start the development of the territory with an underground structure — in order to subsequently place a residential building on the site.

Earlier it was reported that the demand for bomb shelters in Russia grew especially in September 2022. The largest number of orders comes from the Belgorod and Kursk regions, which are most often shelled.

According to the builders, the price of one bunker, depending on the characteristics, ranges from 150 thousand to 10 million rubles. About 10% of citizens want to build bunkers with additional options on their plots: they need autonomous life support systems, anti-radiation doors and pre-cleaning vestibules.
