The Prosecutor General's Office has recognized the Andrey Sakharov American Foundation as undesirable in Russia

The American organization of The Andrey Sakharov Foundation - the Andrei Sakharov Foundation - was recognized by the decision of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation as undesirable in Russia.

"It has been established that its activities pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order and the security of the Russian Federation", - the report says.

The organization was established in the United States, its website says that the purpose of the Foundation is "to preserve the scientific and ethical heritage of Andrey Sakharov".

Soviet physicist Andrei Sakharov, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1975, the creators of the first Soviet hydrogen bomb, dissident and human rights activist.
