The list of countries where Russians can legally hide from mobilization is being reduced

The list of countries where Russians can legally hide from mobilization continues to shrink. This is indicated by the review of the migration situation prepared by the "We Can Explain" platform.

"The Migration Commission of Finland has suspended consideration of applications for political asylum for evaders from Russia. Similar decisions of other countries show that the unwillingness to shelter those fleeing from mobilization is a new political trend," the message on the Telegram channel "We can explain" says.

Thus, the migration policy was tightened in Kazakhstan, which has become the largest hub for Russian emigration and a transfer point for Russians fleeing mobilization. Since January 31, the "vizaran" system, which allows foreigners to stay in the country indefinitely, ceases to operate in the country. After that, Russians will be able to stay in Kazakhstan for 90 out of 180 days. The situation is also deteriorating in Georgia, where opposition representatives demanded the introduction of a visa regime for Russians back in the summer. On January 20, President of the Republic Salome Zurabishvili opposed the resumption of flights with the Russian Federation.

In the first half of 2022, a residence permit in Turkey could be obtained when paying for an apartment rental. At the same time, 781 districts were closed two weeks before the start of partial mobilization in the Russian Federation to obtain a Turkish residence permit. According to the source, the situation in Turkey continues to deteriorate, and many Russians at the end of December began to refuse to issue a residence permit, citing an internal order of the migration services.

Meanwhile, refugee status continues to be granted in Europe, but unwillingness to participate in mobilization is not a reason for its assignment. Applicants are required to have more compelling reasons, such as a threat to life, political persecution, proven facts of discrimination. It is noted that the Baltic countries are trying to isolate themselves from Russians more than others. So, in September Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland closed entry for Russians with Schengen visas. In early January, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Latvia took the initiative to suspend the law on repatriation.

The source also reports on the suspension of the issuance of biometric passports for 10 years in major cities of the Russian Federation for unknown reasons. At the same time, the day before, the press service of the public services centers "My Documents" reported that the issuance is carried out as usual.

"At the moment, the acceptance of applications for biometric passports for a period of 10 years with the help of cryptobiocabines and the issuance of ready—made documents by employees of public services centers is carried out as usual," the press service reported, adding that since the beginning of the year, the centers have issued more than 2 thousand passports issued through crypto cabins (quoted by TASS).

Prior to that, an eyewitness told TASS that the Kryukovo MFC refused to accept an application for a foreign passport for a period of 10 years due to the lack of chips. Employees of the My Documents center told the agency that applications for these types of passports are not accepted until at least March 31, and May was called the nearest date for obtaining a biometric passport with a validity period of 10 years.
