The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights reported that since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, as of the end of January, 7110 people were killed, 11,547 residents were injured.

Among the dead - 438 children, it follows from the statistics of the department. There are also 802 children among the victims.

The UN notes that most of the civilian casualties are noted in the Donbass. More than 4.1 thousand residents were killed in this territory, and about 5.8 thousand people were injured.

The organization notes that in reality, the number of civilian casualties may be significantly higher than the official data available to the organization.

According to her, since the beginning of the special operation, almost eight million residents have left the territory of Ukraine. Most of them - about 1.5 million people, are now in Poland. European Commissioner for Internal Affairs Ylva Johansson said that about four million Ukrainians currently remain on the territory of the European Union. About 330 thousand more Ukrainian refugees have tried to enter the EU illegally during this time.
