Yandex revealed violations of internal policy after code leak

According to Yandex, during the investigation of the leak of the source code of the company's services, which occurred on January 25, serious violations of internal policy were revealed, in particular concerning Yandex.Shops. In this service, users can manually configure the recommendations of any product without a note about the advertising nature.

There was priority support for certain groups of users in the Taxi and Food services. Some parts of the code contained words offensive to people of different races and nationalities, Yandex reports.

As a result of the investigation, the company decided to return to the creation of the principles of technoethics. Before that, the company decided not to help search for people by photo, as this violates their personal security. In addition, the project to assess potential borrowers of the bank was stopped.

Last week, the company reported that the code leak was not related to hacking the system. Also, because of it, user data was not "merged".
