19-year-old Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg and her movement Fridays for the Future ("Fridays for the Future") were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the fourth time. According to the Norwegian Telegraph Bureau, such a candidate was nominated by a member of the Norwegian Parliament from the Green Party, Rauand Ismail.

"Thanks to the movement "Fridays for the Future" and Greta Thunberg, the climate strikes gathered young people from all over the world for this fight, because they became worthy laureates of the peace Prize. They are changing the world in real time", - Ismail believes (quoted by TASS).

In 2019, Thunberg was one of the favorites to receive the prize according to betting companies, but then the Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali became its winner.

The Peace Prize, unlike other awards, is awarded not in Stockholm, but in Oslo. According to Nobel's will, the decision on its award is made by a committee of five members appointed by the Norwegian Parliament. According to TASS, the will of the scientist has been interpreted quite widely in recent years, which is why the decisions of the committee are often criticized.

According to the regulations, candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize can be nominated until January 31, after which the right to nominate remains with the members of the committee. The full list of applicants has been entrusted to be kept strictly secret for 50 years, but every year information about some candidates gets into the media from organizations and persons entitled to nominate.
