Ministry of Internal Affairs: 40 people in 2022 withdrew from Russian citizenship

As the department told TASS, those living outside the country need to contact the diplomatic mission or consular office of the Russian Federation. The term of consideration of applications submitted in the general procedure does not exceed a year, and in the simplified one - no more than three months.

The Interior Ministry clarified that due to objective circumstances, the application can be rejected. For example, if a person has an unfulfilled obligation to the country, the involvement of the applicant as an accused in a criminal case or a guilty verdict against him.

Recall that the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Control Oleg Morozov proposed to ban citizens who publicly condemn the Russian special operation in Ukraine from entering the Russia and generally deprive them of Russian citizenship.

Earlier, the head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and state Construction, Andrei Klishas, did not support the idea of Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev that it was time to punish "traitors" in the country according to "wartime rules". Klishas proposed to deprive the mandate of those parliamentarians who come up with initiatives that contradict the foundations of the Constitutional system, including the idea of deprivation of citizenship.
