At the entrances to Volgograd, employees of road services replaced signs with the name of the city.
The signs on a white background with the word "Volgograd" were changed to "Stalingrad".
This happened before the anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, RIA Novosti notes.
Recall that the 80th anniversary of the victory is celebrated on February 2.
According to local residents, the plates were changed earlier, but the replacement took place only for one day.
Some residents associate such early preparations for the holiday with a possible visit of Vladimir Putin to the city.
