During the judicial debate, the state prosecution appealed to the Basmanny Court of Moscow with a request to recognize journalist Alexander Nevzorov * guilty of spreading fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and sentence him in absentia to 9 years in a penal colony.

"I ask you to find Nevzorov guilty of committing a crime under paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and to impose a sentence of 9 years of imprisonment with serving in a general regime colony", - Prosecutor Oleg Lavrov addressed the court, whose words were transmitted from the courtroom by a TASS correspondent).

The article incriminated to Nevzorov* provides for punishment in the form of a fine of up to 5 million rubles and up to 10 years in prison.

According to RIA Novosti, the prosecutor also insists on banning the journalist from administering websites and other resources for four years. The correspondent of the agency clarified that the hearings in the case are held without the accused and his lawyer, and the interests of Nevzorov * are defended in court by a lawyer by appointment, who declared the innocence of the defendant. The defense refers to "freedom of thought and speech, as well as the law on the media".

"A talented journalist and historian, he does not participate in any military operations. He took information from various open sources, and only lazy did not write about it", - the lawyer said, appealing to the court with a request to pass an acquittal.

According to investigators, from March 9 to May 30, Nevzorov*, while outside the Russian Federation, "expressing disagreement with the special military operation conducted by the Russian Federation" and acting on motives of political hatred," posted publications and videos where he provided false information "under the guise of reliable".

The journalist is listed as a fugitive from justice. At the end of April, he was put on the international wanted list, and in May, the Basmanny Court approved his arrest in absentia. On March 22, the Investigative Committee announced the initiation of a criminal case against Nevzorov*, and on April 22, he was added to the register of foreign media agents.
