The decision was preceded by a call from the Norwegian ambassador to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the action planned for Friday, February 3, with the burning of the Koran in Norway was canceled by local authorities.

"We summoned the Norwegian ambassador after learning about the planned action to desecrate the holy Koran. After that, they canceled the permit for the action", - TASS quoted the minister as saying.

The Foreign Minister stressed that such actions, during which Islam and the Koran are insulted, are still carried out in Sweden and Denmark under the pretext of freedom of speech.

"It's all wrong. Regardless of religion and beliefs. We consider Islamophobia, anti-Christianity and anti-Semitism as crimes against humanity", - Cavusoglu was quoted as saying by TRT Haber.

On January 21, an action was held in Stockholm, during which the founder and leader of the Danish far-right party "Hard Course" Rasmus Paludan publicly burned the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy. On January 27, he held the same rally in front of a mosque in Copenhagen. On January 31, Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara would not ratify the membership of Sweden and Finland in the North Atlantic Alliance under the current conditions.
